Fred Mitchell Award celebrates placekickers for excellence – 2023 Preseason Watch List
The Fred Mitchell Award is pleased to recognize 34 non-FBS placekickers for excellence entering the college football season on the 2023 Preseason Watch List, in alphabetical order below with 2022 results.
The recipient of the 2023 Fred Mitchell Award will be announced in mid-December. Details will be posted on this website in the weeks ahead, including the award’s focus on excellence on the football field and in the community.
“It is with tremendous anticipation that our 35-person Selection Committee looks forward to the performances of non-FBS kickers this 2023 season — both on and off the field,” said Fred Mitchell. “The kickers on our Watch List, as well as others who might emerge, will have the full attention of our committee.”
The breakdown of the 34 placekickers is as follows:
- Collegiate Division – 13 FCS, 9 Division II, 7 Division III, 4 NAIA and 1 NJCAA
- State – The place-kickers play at schools located in 25 different states
- Year – 1 Graduate Student, 17 Seniors, 14 Juniors, 2 Sophomores and 0 Freshmen
