The Fred Mitchell Award recognizes 27 place-kickers on its annual Watch List for their excellence on the football field during the 2015 season and for continued community service during their off-season.
“I continue to be encouraged by the quality of kickers on our 2016 preseason Watch List and we look forward to monitoring their progress on and off the field throughout the season. The winner of our annual award will be announced in December and the top 10 finalists will be named All-Americans by our selection committee,” Mitchell said. “The winner of our award does not necessarily have to be on the preseason Watch List.”
The Award’s Selection Committee Chairman Rob Perry added, “The continued success and exposure of previous Fred Mitchell Award recipients is having a positive effect on the sport and the community by leading more athletes to give of themselves. It is a pleasure to recognize kickers that were nominated by their schools for terrific performance during their 2015 season, many of whom were instrumental in their team’s playoff push.”
