2018 Fred Mitchell Award preseason Watch List announced

The Fred Mitchell Award recognizes 34 place-kickers for their excellence on the football field for the 2018-2019 season and for continued community service during their off-season. As the list grows, so does our pride in these committed young men.

“In this, our 10th year of presenting the Fred Mitchell Award, I am especially proud of the caliber of college kickers and community-minded individuals we are privileged to recognize in the 2018 preseason Watch List,” Mitchell said. “We have honored kickers in the past who have gone on to play professionally, and we have highlighted exceptional college kickers who have gone on to pursue successful careers in business, education and social endeavors. This makes me especially proud to have my name associated with this national award.”

The recipient of the Fred Mitchell Award will be announced in mid-December based on performance on the football field and in the community.

The breakdown of the 34 place-kickers is as follows:

  • Collegiate Division – 13 FCS, 11 Division II, 9 Division III, and 1 NAIA
  • State – the place-kickers play at schools located in 22 different states (AL, CA (3), CT, GA, IL, IN, IA (3), MA (4), MN (3), MO (2), NY, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV, and WI) and two from abroad (Jena, Germany and Saõ Paulo, Brazil).
